LeadingAge South Carolina has member communities statewide that include life plan communities (also known as CCRCs), assisted living communities, skilled nursing facilities, affordable housing, home and community based services, home health, home services and hospice providers. Member communities are sponsored by private, community and religious organizations and share a common commitment to provide quality care and services to our older adults.

Our members employ approximately 8,000 mission-oriented staff serving more than 10,000 older South Carolinians. In addition LeadingAge South Carolina has 65 business members who provide services and products to our member communities. The Association offers education, advocacy, networking and shared services and is the state affiliate for LeadingAge in Washington, DC. We also provide opportunities to participate and affect change through active participation on various boards, committees, task forces and interest groups.

LeadingAge South Carolina proposes regulatory and legislative changes to enhance member’s ability to provide care and services in South Carolina. The Association represents non-profit providers and mission-aligned providers in South Carolina before state and local governmental agencies, other allied professional organizations, residents’ groups and the general public.

LeadingAge South Carolina protects member interests in Columbia with representation at the SC General Assembly and in Washington, DC through our national affiliate, LeadingAge. LeadingAge SC coordinates a grassroots advocacy program and maintains a strong presence with state regulatory agencies.

Through our SC Institute on Aging we offer professionals at all levels at our member organizations the opportunity to network and share ideas at seminars, workshops and our Annual Conference. We offer professional licensure credits for a number of related professions at the LeadingAge SC educational events.
